Hi Tom i am sorry to hear about your loss
i am also from buffalo and played a lot of the clubs back in the Day
i lost my mom last year contact me when you can, i was wondering did your mom ever sing at the Colored Musicians Club in buffalo- i work with the historians and festival division of the club, continued blessings -Van Taylor
I just read your moving tribute to your Mom. I lost my dad nearly 3 weeks ago. He enjoyed many types of music, and also exposed me to it. I been a drummer, since also seeing the beatles on Ed Sullivan all those years ago. It was very moving reading your remarks about your mother. I also was able compose a letter for my Dad at this passing, remarking how his love of music touched many in our family. Your mother had a very beautiful voice, and it was great to hear your early composition. Take care, and I hope to hear more inspiring music in the future.

Tom, just read your words of your mother. I was not as blessed as you. On 3-24-11 my mother passed - I so wished my life could have been yours, with respect to our moms. Cherish those memories and thank God for the Angel you have been blessed to know...
also thank you for your work that I've enjoyed it for over28 years! Rob

Tom,
Longtime listener (since "Morning Dance", 1976 or so).
I've always been impressed with you musicianship (I'm a keyboard player, too, so I have full apprecation). You always had the multi-keyboard thing going on, covering arrangements off the album when you play live (picking up the slack like most keyboard players have to do). You play piano, synth parts, organ, it just doesn't matter, cause if it's got keys you've got it down.
Yeah, you got crazy fast fingers, too, but it was always about more than that. I could tell that music isn't something that you just do, but it is who you are.
It was refreshing for me to find this website several years ago and see some of the comments you posted here. Then it became abundantly clear to me where the source of your music comes from. It is so refreshing to see your faith in action through your music. The love that is in you is apparent through what you play. I know when I listen to your songs, it's not just the music that affects me but also the spirit that it comes from. Your musical gift has been a great source of joy to me.
I just saw a recent interview with you and Julio (on youtube). It was just more confirmation of how 'real' you guys are.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful gift. I just bought your newest album and will be enjoying it when it arrives.
Yesterday was your Mother's Birthday and also the day your Dad passed away 11 years ago. Now they are making beautiful music again, your Mom singing and your Dad playing the music. May they RIP, Together again!

Dear Friend,
Thank you for sharing Jazz Bridge and your tribute to your mom. The beautiful picture and beautiful rare recording that you were able to salvage. Truly a rare gift from an "angel"
As we have personally spoken, she gave you the gift, showed you the way, and you now carry the torch, and are doing it well. The growth is the payoff.
You are the best.
'Til the universe brings us together again,

Hello Tom,
What a wonderful tribute to your mother. I sat next to you on the Capital Jazz Cruise and I know that was God steering my direction. When my business cards fell out of the camera pouch you offered to pick them up...and Walah!!!! Tom Schuman ..OMG!!! your spirit was warm and wonderful, your mother did an awsome job!!!
Tom, I;m sorry about the passing of your mother. I'm glad I got to hear the sound track on your website of her singing. She had to be an angel. I've heard you play with Spyro Gyra several times since the early 1980's here in the Baton Rouge area and I know she'll be with you in New Orleans on Nov.5. It's been years since I've heard you play live. Looking forward to it.

Tom - What a blessing for you to have this Angel in your life for so long. Sounds like she did Gods work during her time on earth quite well. Although I did not know your Mom, Marion, I can tell, feel through your words that she was beloved and touched all those that knew her. My prayers with you and your family. And let the rejoicing of the Angels in heaven resound as one of their own comes home. Joe

Dearest Schuman family,
Your tribute to Mrs. Marion Schuman touched me so profoundly. I pray to be a better person after reading this touching tribute. What a lady and inspiration to all that knew and loved her. I wish I could have met her but that will be saved for another time in the distant future. The Lord truely kissed her vocal chords! what an amazing voice! I am so blessed to have had this opportunity to hear her sing with her flawless performance accompanied by her genius angelic son on the piano. What an annointed family! Thank you for making the world so beautiful by sharing this beautiful musical tribute to an amazing woman..

Tom,
What an incredible forum for little ol' me to communicate with the great Tom Schuman. I've been a fan since I started studying music at Youngstown State University in 1990...Saw you in Pittsburgh the following year under a tent - Tuck & Patti opening - a night I'll never forget. After learning every note and rhythm (whew!) on Fast Forward, I expected a great show. What I got was nothing short of miraculous. I don't know what drives you guys to perfection, but you simply accomplish it, I had tears in my eyes and had to jump out of my seat and scream! I had the pleasure again this past weekend of seeing you guys in Youngstown - what a treat - right in my backyard! Watching your style has again become an inspiration to me...I hope you know there are keyboard players out here motivated to become better musicians by watching you. I especially dug the leg kicking out underneath your solos, and watching you (as I called it) "dive" into the board...I kept telling my wife to look at you...I could tell nothing else existed for you but that series of black and white. Nice job, as always, and WHAT A DRUMMER! I'm 20 years older but I still had a tear! I have to say though, I was disappointed with the small rack! In '91 you had a rig that any keyboard player would die for. Admittedly, I'm down to two keyboards myself. It's amazing how difficult it is to actually play more than those two at once :) Keep up the great work and I'll keep buying...thanks for all the great music and keeping musicians tuned into the fact that there is still REAL music being made these days. KUDOS!
I Had been studying that Saturday for my Sunday morning message at church. My friends kept calling me saying, you've been a musician all of your life and Spyra is one of your favorite groups. I know you're not going to miss this. My wife joined in the chourus and to my extreme delight, I ended up at an amazing jazz concert listening to Tom Schuman one of my all time keyboard influnces. By the way my Sunday messge turned out fine.
